From Workshop to Game Table: What Quality Means at Senjoy Mahjong

A Mahjong set is handled, shuffled, stacked, and studied up close. That is why quality is more than a product photo. It is the combination of visual clarity, consistent dimensions, comfortable edges, and a finish that feels good in the hand.

Starting with the material

Acrylic gives us room to work with color, clarity, and layered effects. We consider how the material will look from the front, side, and back, because the tiles are seen from every angle during a game. Our homepage introduces the material selection, layering, and precision cutting behind our sets.

The details that need attention

Artwork has to meet the tile accurately. Print alignment, legibility, and the relationship between the design and the tile’s edges all affect the finished result. Dimensions and finish matter just as much: tiles should sit together consistently and feel comfortable when handled.

These are practical challenges, not abstract claims. When Sixth Tone visited the Senjoy workshop, it reported on the team’s efforts to solve alignment and sizing problems during production. The feature offers an unusually candid look at the work behind a polished set.

Design and making belong together

We want original artwork to survive the journey into a real product. That means considering the production method while developing a design, reviewing samples, and paying attention to how the completed set comes together. Our aim is a set that is expressive and enjoyable to play with, not merely impressive on screen.

For an example of how illustration, layered acrylic, and playability come together, see Geometric Bloom. If you are planning a custom set, share your project brief so we can discuss the design and production requirements together.
